RUTH LOST 29.8 POUNDS IN JUST 5 WEEKS
Another amazing transformation that Live in Fitness is doing for those wanting and willing to change their lifestyle for good. Ruth, 61, hailing from Everett, Washington was on a mission to get as much out of this truly customized program as she has in the past few years. Her time here was truly inspiring as nothing was getting in the way of getting closer to achieving the best version of herself.
Ruth learned about Live in Fitness from her son and daughter-in-law’s previous stay, “My son and daughter-in-law came here for their honeymoon. I kept telling them it’s not a spa and they knew that. The selling point for me was, I was at a crossroads. I was working full time, caregiving for my mother. I didn’t have time to work out or self-care time. I wasn’t mobile and I wanted to be mobile until the day I died. Mobility and getting in shape to feel healthier again was the baseline.”
Throughout the past year, Ruth noticed an increase in weight, “It just kept creeping up over the last year. I attribute that to stress and just not taking care of myself. I wasn’t taking time for myself. It made my life extremely difficult. It’s hard to get in and out of a car. Weight gain slows you down on absolutely everything you do. I’ve had a thought process for the last number of years, that if my grandchildren ask me to do something, I will until I can’t anymore. I’m graced with becoming a grandmother six years ago. I want to be there for him. Doing this program with my grandson for the first four weeks has been a blessing. I’ve increased stamina and mobility. I like that I can see that I am progressing, such as I can go on hikes and being an active participant.”
Ruth gets vulnerable describing her struggles, “I have a different number of medical issues. I had a knee replacement. Health issues were a big thing. Losing weight would benefit me. I have sleep apnea and I’m mostly certain, that will clear up when I lose weight. As far as people’s perception when someone is overweight, they associate that with being stupid, which has been my experience. I’ve run businesses and I am educated so it was hard to go through that. I’ve been underestimated. I visualize myself as the same person, but others don’t.”
Ruth was right about Live in Fitness expectations, “I knew I was going to work very hard here. I have a lot of obstacles to overcome but I know it will take a while. Now, I’m excited to move forward and to continue my health goal. Just eating well and maintaining by putting an hour and a half, is very appealing because I can do that for myself when I go home. It will help me save medical money. Live in Fitness makes things positive and the endorphins are contagious after the workouts.”
Ruth expresses how she felt about her progress thus far, “I feel great. I’m proud of myself. At this point, I’ve lost 19 pounds and gained lean mass. I’m looking forward to seeing my last results before I go.” She had amazing results throughout her time while having a week of losing 11 pounds on the scale. In total, before she left, she lost 29.82 pounds of fat to be exact in five weeks.
Many countless factors have helped Ruth become the best version of herself, “Something I didn’t think about, the affirmations while you’re stretching. I woke up and I was speaking affirmations. I’ve never done that before. The support of the staff. They are willing to work with my limitations, and improve, and modify exercises. Cardio has helped my lung which collapsed. Being able to breathe. Being able to inhale and exhale my lungs is awesome.”
Eric, the president of Live in Fitness, has implemented various philosophies and approaches that have helped thousands of people get closer to their goals. With Eric’s 25 years of experience, Ruth has shared her opinion on how she feels about these ideals, “I love his philosophies, It’s all-inclusive. He doesn’t say just workout, workout, workout. You got the meals, the healthy eating, positive affirmations—everything is being addressed. You don’t go in and work out or only eat what you want. The visualization process has helped me a lot.”
While Eric takes great pride in optimizing the program for ultimate success, Ruth shares what she has enjoyed the most in her five weeks, “I like that it’s organized. I enjoy the variety of cardio, weights, stretching, and yoga. I’ve done cardio and weights before, but I never realized how valuable stretching is. I’ve seen wins here. Seeing the way I can get in the van easier. I like there are many modes of cardio here from rowers to ellipticals. If there is something that doesn’t work for you, you can try something else. If the coaches see that you’re struggling, they say ‘Try this, this might help you.’ I’ve enjoyed increasing my cardiovascular endurance and feeling muscles I thought weren’t even there.”
She continues, “Some of my favorite classes I love was a tie between boxing and the team bonding workout because we are all working together. The camaraderie, we are working to achieve the same goal. Deck of cards because we are doing it together and the coaches make it fun while you’re doing it. The dishes that the chef has made thus far are so good! Everything is good. It’s hard to pick my top three. The pizza on Saturdays with the cauliflower crust is awesome. He makes amazing salads! I love that he uses proteins such as chicken and turkey in the salads. I can go on and on about his food!”
Being through the program for five weeks, Ruth knows exactly what to say to those who are still contemplating attending the program, giving assurance that this will be the best thing they do for themselves, “I would say they are only given one body and to take care of it. The rest of the things will fall into place because you must take care of yourself before you take care of something else. It just works that way!”
